It was win, win, win! for Kate’s Cakes at the Sussex Business Awards 2007/08 last November. Kate’s scooped two awards at this, the most prestigious business event in Sussex: crowned Company of the Year once again, Kate’s Cakes Managing Director Steve Greenhalgh also won the title of Sussex Business Person of the Year.
It is the second time Kate’s Cakes has been named Company of the Year, having won the same award in 2005. Kate’s Cakes phenomenal growth continues to impress and with over 500 staff and 70,000 sq ft of factory space in Ashington, West Sussex, these two awards recognise and celebrate Steve’s achievements as an individual as well as company successes, both of which are outstanding.
Kate’s Cakes on-going commitment to innovation and new product development has pushed its boundaries as market leaders and together with its strong can-do ethos, has seen a huge 25% year on year growth over the last 7 years.
Spearheading the company’s spectacular growth is Managing Director Steve Greenhalgh who joined in 1999 as Operations Director. Originally trained in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering, Steve held a variety of engineering positions within the food sector prior to joining Kate’s Cakes. In August this year, Kate’s Cakes was sold to BakeMark to help the company expand into Europe.
With a world-class customer portfolio, which includes Marks & Spencer, Starbucks, Prêt A Manger and Waitrose, Kate’s Cakes whirlwind of successes firmly positions the company at the top of its industry. It has truly become one of the UK’s most inspirational and renowned success stories.
