We’re celebrating at Kate’s Cakes following the announcement that we’ve won not one but four prestigious Great Taste Awards! The Wheat Free Choc & Nut Cereal Bar and the Dairy Free Muesli Bar, two of our new cereal bars from the You Can range, both received the coveted one star Gold Great Taste Award. Add to this the two Gold Great Taste Awards for our Dairy Free Granola Bar and the Choc Fudge Cake and our successes taste particularly sweet!
Winning an award is recognition of all the creative skill and unstinting hard work that is part of daily life at Kate’s Cakes. We’re particularly thrilled to win awards for our newest range, You Can, which caters especially for people who suffer from food allergies or intolerances with a selection of gluten, dairy, wheat free and low fat cakes.
Often referred to as the Oscars of the food industry, the Great Taste Awards is now in its 15th year and applies the most rigorous judging standards in the UK. Each of this year’s 4,800 entries was blind tasted by teams of experts, with the lucky winners being assessed by at least three teams by the time they earn gold. This year’s judges included Alex James, farmer, journalist and bass player with Blur, Mark Hix, the chef’s chef, Charles Campion from Evening Standard & The Independent, Tom Parker-Bowles of UKTV Food’s Market Kitchen, and national food journalist Fiona Sims.
Tom Parker Bowles said:
“The GTA represent the gold standard of British food production. They are a sign of the highest quality, where taste is more important than the quick buck.”
Fellow judge, food critic Charles Campion added:
“This competition has really come of age, and year by year the standard of entries gets higher and higher. To win a gold at the Great Taste Awards is a terrific achievement.”
